Saving water – fashion or necessity?

Grupa Armatura

The idea of water saving is the top priority on the list of important ecological problems as the future of our planet is concerned. That is why on the global scale as well as in each country and regional levels, there are activities undertaken aiming to educating about real risk of water supply reduction on the Earth. It is important to manage water resources properly on one hand and stress on spreading saving in these fields on the other hand.

Water saving involves a series of activities which in total may bring general improvement of the situation concerning water resources in different regions. Protection of these resources on our Planet means first of all the awareness of particular persons in consideration to everyday activities. It involves both everyday hygiene habits and caring for house hold equipment that involve water usage. It is also important that the equipment is economic which apart from the brand aspect involves care for its leak proof, seal replacement etc.

According to the assumption of the Polish Humanitarian Action, in the year 2050 about 7 billion people in 60 countries will have a lack of drinking water. This appalling data should be an impulse to wide activities both in countries and individual persons. Data on yearly water waste amounting to 6.3m3 should make one aware about saving in a situation when one drop per second dripping in the bathroom totals to 17 litres per day. Acting on this information, it is easy to calculate the yearly loss due to water dripping into waste pipes.

It is good because it is wet.

Hammering out proper habits concerning water usage is one of the most important conditions of an ecological life style. However for real water consumption reduction in the household, it is necessary to install water saving equipment. It involves tap ware which is chosen for kitchens and bathrooms which should consider ecological aspects concerning water consumption. Taking into consideration ones needs, the Armatura Group offer may be interesting as it involves water saving matter in the offer.

The best ones are the touch free faucets which allow water consumption rationalisation. The mechanism in the touch free faucet makes the water stream flow only when the hands are placed underneath. When the hands are removed, the water stops flowing. It is possible due to a special sensor fixed in the faucet. These faucets in comparison to standard faucets allow keeping a 100% hygiene level as there is no need to touch the faucet. Another product of Armatura Group with ecological solutions is the OPAL faucet series with saving ceramic regulators allowing controlled water consumption. It is about three levels the faucet handle can be set to: the bottom one where the water is closed, the middle one, so called economic and the top one which gives full water flow. Also one hole faucets are meant to reduce water consumption because opposite to double handle faucets enable efficient temperature and water flow regulation. In the case of double handle faucets regulating the cold and hot water flow is necessary for optimal temperature. It results in the large volume of water wasted before the water temperature is regulated. As against it, the said one hole faucet provides efficient water savings. An interesting solution in the faucets manufactured by Armatura Group are aerators which mixes water with air which gives the feeling that the water flow is stronger. It is actually a lot smaller, comparing to the water flow in the standard faucets. Also the thick sieve in faucets protects from water splashing which is also important in the saving aspect.

The ecological approach to everyday household activities involving water consumption creates thinking of possibilities of its usage reduction. In spite of appearances, many solutions applicable in this field are not very expensive nor time consuming. The solution is to implement simple rules for using water and equipment consuming water. It is most of all taking a shower instead of a bath, using an economic wash program or running only a fully loaded dishwasher.

New quality of saving

The answer to the question, if we are really thrifty is easy. First of all we have to look into the matter of washing hands; if we wash hands under a flowing stream of water or after wetting hands we turn the water off? The same with brushing one’s teeth. Another important aspect is, if we use the shower or bathtub? How long we take a shower and how much time we spend in the bathtub? The ecology aspect concerns also the matter what wash program we set the washing machine for? What faucets we have in the bathroom and kitchen? If the faucets have water saving mechanisms? Apparently there is a lot more to do in the field both considering equipment and habits. Solutions suggested by Armatura Group may be very helpful in this aspect.
